Context

WIF Immo is a web app that helps Swiss municipalities monitor public buildings, assess conditions, plan repairs, estimate costs, and manage budgets efficiently

Methods

Context

WIF Immo is a web app that allows municipalities and cities to have a complete overview of their public buildings. It enables users to assess building conditions, plan necessary repairs, estimate costs, and manage budgets effectively.

The Need

Improve the MVP's overall UX/UI to help surveyors work more efficiently, upsell more customers, and increase adoption across their client base.

This tool not only streamlines WIF Partner's workflow, but also empowers them to show the value of their service by providing customers with clear insights into the process behind it. It also enables municipalities to plan their budget and demonstrate the necessity for financial support from the governments.

The Existing MVP

The MVP needed a solid design concept and a redefinition of its architecture to enable users to find and edit the information they were looking for as easily as possible.

Old UI - Portfolio & Building Detail Pages

The Solution

I started by interviewing the main stakeholders to understand their pain points and what were the possible improvements to make.

The main focus of this redesign was on the Portfolio & the Building view, where I improved the navigation by reworking the user flows and implemented a consistent design by unifying the tool’s design elements, including color scheme, typography, and button styles.

Other significant changes included optimizing the tool’s readability and filtering through a redesign of tables, graphs, and filters, making it easier for users to find and manage data. Additionally, I implemented requested features such as condition assessment tools and repair tracking, directly addressing user needs and enhancing the tool’s functionality.

Learnings

With limited experience, I enhanced the UX/UI of this tool. Along the way, I learned the importance of close collaboration with developers and stakeholders, quickly adapting to requirements, and maintaining a user-centered focus for effective solutions.
